Old Dead Hips
Joe Donnelly

He turns his fifty year old hips,
And with his gut sucked in,
Yells to the woman waiting for a taxi,
“Green looks good on you. Green’s your color, honey.”
The woman brushes her dyed hair out of her face and says,
“You look good in fat, honey.”
Burning the man from head to toe,
Incinerating his dumb Armani shirt and loafers,
Burning him so badly that somewhere in time,
An Italian man bursts into flames while crossing the Atlantic,
Just before he touches Ellis Island,
And creates a better life for future generations.
