Claudia F. Savage’s Comments

For me, corporeal landscape has always combined with earthly landscape. The airy western sky opens the chest. The rain of the Pacific Northwest blankets and hushes. These poems are part of a larger collection that focus on an important transition in my life—from one relationship to another and from one terrain to another (Colorado to Oregon). Transition is messy and revealing all at once, whether the result of divorce or a forest fire. My poetry arises from a return to the body, to breath, and the sensuous hope that we might, through physicality and art, gracefully inhabit the larger world.
