Heaven is an unbroken body of water
withdrawing from orbit.

V.

Farmers realize the flood is a fable
as they reap fruit
from once dormant stones.

IV.

The earth cracks, recedes into itself
toward warmth:
the original source of liquid.

III.

In continuous flight, birds will soon exhaust
the possibilities of direction.

II.

After the seventh: when all days lose their singularity.

I.

God rested.
And then there was drought.
