Sue Miller’s Comments

One thing I hope you'll notice about my poems: they beg to be read
aloud. I use language tools available to me to seduce the reader
because I am in love with sounds. Once you get past the swooning of
the tongue, the hiss and clatter against the teeth, I hope you'll look
below the surface and read at another level—one that reveals that I
am always falling in love with people I meet, whether it be in person
or online. And reading a poem is exposing yourself to a stranger,
choosing (or not) to let him in. This necessary yearning—whether it
be for a person, place, or thing—is integral to my work.
