The Graduate as an Art House Action Flick
Matthew Sinex

Dustin Hoffman opens
an empty box of maps.
His sunburnt hands swim
in the stagnant attic.

Mrs. Robinson pulls off her mask:
Surprise!—it’s that Russian spy
he killed: Chernobyl, ’77.

Later, he hijacks a bus
and holds his lover’s daughter for ransom.
He leads police on a wild car chase
through Berkeley. It ends
in close-up: his sweaty mouth.
