Suzanne Ondrus’s Comments

My writing comes from my life experiences. I use writing as a way of understanding myself and the world. My writing process is a type of excavation. Things simmer in me for a while before they ask to come out on the page. The confessional poets, primarily Anne Sexton, Slyvia Plath, and Sharon Olds, inspired and still inspire me. I write to try to better understand myself, others, and life. I want to motivate others to reflect and enable them to experience events that have impacted me. The selection of poems here comes from a collection titled Fury Seeds. Soon my poetry reading from October 2008 will be accessible through the Web site of the University of Connecticut’s Creative Writing Program.
